Interactive Simulation Demonstrated at Conference

Harrison at the AWWA Conference BoothRyan Casey and Harrison Thrift of Growing Technologies attended the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Intermountain Section conference at Utah State University (USU) in mid-September in support of RASOr, our interactive wastewater simulation application – a joint effort between USU, Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC), and Growing Technologies funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The web application will be the first-ever interactive training simulation for wastewater operators.

We presented the application to members of the AWWA via a booth and a keynote presentation, explaining how the trainee will be able to navigate through, and interact with, the various areas of the wastewater plant thereby affecting the state of the plant and eliciting true-to-life consequences requiring the trainee to take appropriate action.

Attendees showed significant interest in the application, targeted for release in early 2016 for integration with CCTC’s wastewater training program.
